A total of 11 videos at approximately 9 hours of teaching, will paste below…unfortunately you need the codes to see the detailed timestamps below each video. Email [email protected] to purchase

1. What is the wizard brain and mindsight (1/3 of a class as it is 15 minutes long)
2. The wizard brain skill of response flexibility (1/3 of a class as it is 24 min long)
3. The wizard brain skill of attuned communication (1/3 of a class 26 min long)

The first 3 together cost $20, the rest are $20 each

4. The wizard brain skill of fear modulation.

A CORE class explaining how to rewire shame using fear modulation (to unlearn a fear). This class is total 90 minutes long and besides the 30 min recording includes an additional 60 min video called “melting shame.” The official title is “Fear Modulation: Learning to go from critical voice to kind voice” and this class along with my “Wizard vs Lizard Brain” are ones that my counseling clients usually first watch.

5. The wizard brain skill of insight and how it originates from attachment in childhood
6. The wizard brain skill of empathy but expanded definition with an empathy energy experience from guest speaker
7. The wizard brain skill of morality ***BEST overview of the whole series
8. The wizard brain skill of intuition

9. The wizard brain skill of emotional balance *** AN EXCELLENT class overviewing interpersonal neurobiology model, without getting overly technical. (A fantastic 15 min section is to start at min 34. Live demonstration of an audience member gaining emotional balance then detailed PowerPoint explanation.)

10. The wizard brain skill of body regulation. Possibly the best HACK out of the 9 functions to most quickly jump start your brain from lizard to wizard!

11. The FINALE reviewing all 9 and explaining more nuanced details, also very good to watch for an overview of all 9 functions

Min 7:45 How seeing inside my mind is insight and seeing inside your mind is empathy and how seeing “minds” called mindsight is a core skill this wizard brain series will cover

Min 8:15 The wizard brain creates meaning and why this is important

Min 9:45 The main 3 teaching concepts today were explaining briefly what is the wizard brain, the mind (see slide,) and mindsight (see slide)

Min 11:45 How the 9 Skills of the Wizard Brain and the 9 Levels of Integration are (metaphorically) 18 “things” or “skills” we want to put in a little pouch in our belt and keep with us to make us smarter and happier

2. The wizard brain skill of response flexibility

Min 00:55 Review of Last Session

Min 01:06 What we’ll cover today 1. Where exactly the prefrontal cortex is located 2. Definition of response flexibility 3. How to “widen your window of tolerance”

Min 1:40 Doing this calms the lizard brain (and gives you more access to the wizard brain and response flexibility)

Min 2:15 The exact brain regions involved when you do the above hack (dorsolateral and ventromedial prefrontal cortices)

Min 2:50 The exact brain regions that make up your prefrontal cortex

Min 3:24 This slide reviews the two things you can do to grow your mindsight and strengthen your prefrontal cortex, (it was also mentioned in min 01:00 of the video 1 of 11 videos in the wizard brain series)

Min 3:50 What exactly a “wide window of tolerance” means in interpersonal neurobiology

Min 06:00 What happens to your window of tolerance with trauma

Min 6:50 How the window of tolerance and the river of brain integration are related

Min 7:45 Four things you can do when you are starting to “flip your lid” and go out of your window

Min 13:00 Audience member asks Heidi about how change occurs, how it can seem like nothing is changing, then boom it does change, and wonders how many times she might have been close to a breakthrough but she stopped right before it was about to happen

Min 13:48 to 17:30 Heidi explains how having a wide window of tolerance and access to your prefrontal cortex allows you to tolerate the “pain of living” and to set and accomplish goals–KEY TEACHING MOMENT

Min 14:08 The crucial aspect of brain integration that allows you to carry all the way through with a compassionate act (having this skill is key if carrying you through difficult times)

Min 17:40 What effective trauma therapy does to your brain

Min 20:50 Metaphor of integration (which is to differentiate / separate and link) being like “brain combing”

Min 23:40 This makes hills seem less steep and pain feel less intense

3. The wizard brain skill of attuned communication

Each “Wizard’s Unite Discussion Group” builds on the former group themes and also serves as a STAND ALONE educational video. The 1st Group defined “mind” and the end goal of monitoring and modifying the mind for a happier life, ( ). The 2nd Group defined “response flexibility” as one of 9 wizard brain functions, ( This group focuses on “attuned communication,” another 1 of 9 functions of the wizard brain (see 9 functions chart here: Another way to say this is that we focused on how kindness, that is giving and receiving the ACTION OF CARE particularly through words, wires the brain up optimally. The above video starts with
0:08 FACES flow results when our brains reach a higher level of integration
0:35 Opposite of that is the riverbanks of RIGIDITY (hypoarousal) or CHAOS (hyperarousal) which are signs that we are at a lower level of integration
0:48 The purpose of the group is to notice our autonomic nervous system state (physiological state,) and the idea that “state creates story”. That is, the story we are telling ourselves right now will reflect our state. One way we can become happier with our attention is to recognize when we are more sleep-deprived, which means that we have a lower amount of overall fuel in our system, (are more likely to get grumpy and have those rigidity or chaotic moments because we can’t access that more response flexibility from the wizard brain and instead are more lizard brain, judging and catastrophizing and all or nothing or black white thinking).

4. The wizard brain skill of fear modulation*

*A CORE class explaining how to rewire shame using wizard brain skill of fear modulation (to unlearn a fear)

This class reviews the “Melting Shame” class concept of using kind voice to calm yourself down and getting more response flexibility, emotion regulation, and body regulation, that is, getting more wizard brain functions (see 9 functions of the prefrontal cortex chart). Heidi begins by explaining what happens when a person feels shame, that they will be evoking what is called the “default mode network,” also called mind wandering or negativity bias. Understanding this can help a person feel more hopeful and take the experience of shame away from it feeling deeply personal and instead put it in a zone where we can think of it as evoking a specific state that isn’t helpful. She demos kind voice with one audience member as she explains feeling shame when she brings up constructive criticism. Heidi explains how your mind is both embodied and relational, so in that moment when offering constructive feedback if the receiver is feeling criticized, they themselves could go into more lizard-y states that will naturally evoke your own lizard in response. She says it is called “interpersonal resonance” and sometimes referred to as “2pn” (two person neuroscience,) the states that happen when two people attune. She lets the audience member know that part of what we want to do isn’t to pathologize the various autonomic nervous system states that our attention normally travels between, but instead to recognize the state we’re in and acknowledge that we CAN do things to get ourselves in a better state ONCE we have the time and space to try something to help like kind voice.

Class #4 on fear modulation teaches the science of shame, when we feel shame the “default mode network” (lizard brain) is lighting up. There is a cycle involved with excessive self-criticism, to onboard the wizard brain use kind voice instead.

NOTE: The next Class #5 insight, Class #6 empathy, and Class #7 morality cover “mindsight” which is a CORE PRINCIPLE in interpersonal neurobiology. (The #7 morality class overviews mindsight in greatest detail.) Insight is about seeing inside my mind, empathy is about seeing inside your mind and morality is about seeing inside our mind–together these are at the heart of social and emotional intelligence.

5. The wizard brain skill of insight and how it originates from attachment in childhood

This class explains how insight (seeing inside our own mind) originates from childhood where a caregiver gives you what is called “reflective function” in attachment research; (it is also called “mindsight” in interpersonal neurobiology–to see one’s own mind and other’s minds).

6. The wizard brain skill of empathy but expanded definition with an empathy energy experience from guest speaker

7. The wizard brain skill of morality ***BEST overview of the whole series alongside the FINALE

8. The wizard brain skill of intuition

9. The wizard brain skill of emotional balance

10. Bodily Regulation–

11. FINALE reviewing all 9 functions of the wizard brain (prefrontal cortex)–excellent overview, review, and deepening of the subject!
